Commercial Landscaping Projects from Landscape Workshop: Tiger Town, Opelika, Alabama
A large retail center, Tiger Town features a number of retail and restaurant locations. We installed landscaping in each of the four phases that were implemented over a span of several years. The site encompasses 124 acres at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and Interstate 85, between the cities of Auburn and Opelika, Alabama. The center currently has more than 750,000 sf of retail space anchored by Target, Old Navy, Petco, World Market, Home Depot, and Kroger.
Challenges/Opportunities
1. Multiple stakeholders. As with all retail centers, there are many different managers and owners with various needs and requests. Our team works to meet the needs of everyone involved.
2. Computerized irrigation system. In order to conserve water, the owners implemented, Maxicom, a computerized irrigation system. Maxicom uses an onsite weather station to monitor current weather conditions. Based upon the system’s readings, irrigation is adjusted to adequately water the landscape.
3. Storm debris. Storms seem to make a path through this area, often taking down trees. Our crews are on site to quickly clean up any debris.
