Commercial Landscaping Projects from Landscape Workshop: Cahaba Village, Mountain Brook, Alabama

Located on U.S. Highway 280 in Mountain Brook, Alabama, Cahaba Village is a “live / work” development anchored by Whole Foods Grocery and Bryant Bank. The property features 45,000 sf of retail space and 22 luxury condominium units.

Challenges/Opportunities

1. Balance. Simultaneously working with and addressing the needs of residential and commercial areas within the same space, we strove to be a successful participant in the launch of one of the first “live / work” units in the Mountain Brook area.

2. Scheduling. Site conditions required landscaping to be completed in two distinct phases. Installations performed in this manner require a close watch be kept over irrigation scheduling to ensure the health of new plantings.

3. Traffic. A heavily traveled road divides the property along Highway 280. In an effort to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of creating traffic issues, delivery and installation of materials were scheduled during nonpeak travel times.
