Arkadelphia Road / I-59 Interchange

The interchange enhancement was part of Birmingham’s effort to improve it’s image for the 1996 Olympic Soccer game held at Legion field. Large specimen trees were planted in masses to impact this large-scale site. Conditions were severe on this site due to substantial compaction of the soils and the lack of irrigation for the new landscaping. The plantings have thrived and the project has been a success for this area of the city.
